From My Heart to the Church Doors
The Foundations of Faith: I grew up in the pews of a small church alongside my mother and grandmother. I saw the beautiful side of community, but I also saw the painful side—watching a disagreement tear our church family apart.
During my time at Campbell University, while serving on an outreach team, the faith I had claimed as a child at age ten finally became a personal reality. I fully accepted Jesus, not just as a tradition, but as my Savior.
The Barrier of the “Inner Circle”: As life moved on, I eventually found myself drifting away from the church. When I moved to the Piedmont/Foothills area of North Carolina, I wanted to find a church home, but the “finding” was harder than I imagined.
Walking into a new church often feels like being a pariah at a tight-knit family reunion. It’s a group where everyone already knows the stories, the names, and the unwritten rules. Without a friend to walk you in, you can feel the weight of being watched—hearing whispers about your clothes, your makeup, or even your body. The moment I will never forget was being told I had to move because I was sitting in “my seat.”
I didn’t just move seats; I moved to my car.
The Missing Bridge: It had been nearly twenty years since an adult asked me to visit their church. Once people know you, the doors swing wide open—but those first few weeks of being a “stranger” are the hardest to survive alone. Not knowing the dress code or even which door to use makes staying away feel much safer than risking the judgment of an inner circle.
A Calling Born in the Comments: One day, while scrolling through a Facebook reel, I saw a comment from someone wishing for a truly welcoming church. In that moment, God laid a clear mission on my heart: Fearlessly Finding Faith had to happen.
I am 55+ years old. I have never started an organization, I hate making decisions that involve others, and I certainly didn’t know how to build a website! But here we are. God has shown His glory by qualifying a servant who is simply striving to be obedient.
Bridging the Gap: Fearless is here to bridge that gap between being a stranger and being family. We exist to make sure you have a friend by your side during those first few weeks, helping you move past the ‘newcomer’ jitters so you can step fully into the community God has waiting for you. Please connect with me as we fearlessly find faith together.“
